Police Dept: Among Top Oregon Law Enforcement Agencies

April 4th, 2018, the Toledo Police Department and Toledo Public Safety
Communications Center was each awarded stated accreditation from the Oregon
Accreditation Alliance. Chief Enyeart, Sergeant Michael Pace, and Dispatch
Supervisor Cassie Griffith were on hand to accept the accreditation
certificates for the departments.

tip line, Hermiston police save a life
East Oregonian
SafeOregon
has only been active in Eastern Oregon for two years, but it has already
saved at least one life. Late last year, a Hermiston teen used the
anonymous tip line to alert police that one of their peers was suicidal.
Police went to the home and found the child in his room with a belt around
his neck, unconscious. Officers performed CPR and a sternum rub, and got
the person breathing on his own. He was then taken to a hospital and
received treatment. The two officers, Riley Studebaker and Derrick Williams,
were given lifesaving awards for their work.

hosts active shooter response training during National Public Health Week

Run. Hide. Fight. That was the advice Thursday from an
Oregon State Police lieutenant to a group of students, staff and faculty
members at Oregon State University. The officer, Lt. Eric Judah, provided
active shooter response training as part of the College of Public Health
and Human Sciences' National Public Health Week events.

was likely with a 911 dispatcher. Klamath County 911 Director Keith Endacott
began his work as a 911 dispatcher nearly 20 years ago. "A friend of
mine knew me as a pizza shop manager, and thought I might multi-task
okay," Endacott said. "And here I am."

enforcement authorities, according to a notice posted online.

abusers: Dangerous for women - and lethal for cops
USA Today
In 2017, more officers were shot responding to domestic violence
than any other type of firearm-related fatality, according to the National
Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. From 1988 to 2016, 136 officers
were killed while responding to domestic disturbances such as family
arguments, FBI data show. By comparison, 80 were killed during a
drug-related arrest in the same period.
