Baker City - Take Me Home Program
Baker City
The Baker City Police Department is launching a new program,
called "Take Me Home", which will allow community members to
register loved ones who may need special assistance if they are alone or in
an emergency. Originally developed by the Pensacola, Florida PD, Take Me
Home is intended to assist those who are unable to communicate or properly
identify themselves in the event they become disoriented; and it is also
for those who may act in a manner that could be misinterpreted by first
responders.

Gresham PD Community Highlights
The
Gresham Police Department Benevolent Board, recently hosted a
"Significant Other" dinner. TIPS Executive Director, June Vining,
spoke on living with a law enforcement officer. Her great insight from not
only the TIPS perspective but also the wife of a MCSO deputy for 36 years,
was well received by all of the attendees. The Benevolent Board is a non-profit
group of volunteers (spouses of officers and other employees) who exist to
help GPD employees and their families in times of need.

The Gresham GreyWolves; a minor league team associated with the Portland
Pickles, recently partnered with Gresham
Police Officer's Association to hand out Gresham GreyWolves baseball cards. GPD is the
exclusive distributor for these cards, which provides them with an
incredible opportunity for some good old fashioned community
engagement. Shown here is Officer Dan Tatro, handing out cards to
kids in his district.
Outside instructors provide new de-escalation training to
Portland police

The video from a police bodycam showed an agitated woman in
her kitchen holding knives to her throat. A police officer, his hands
outstretched, addressed the woman by name. He stayed back and asked her
what was wrong.

Criminal gangs are getting creative with drone technology to
combat law enforcement's efforts to rein them in. Attendees at this
year's AUVSI Xponential conference on drone technology were given new
examples as to how far criminal gangs will go to thwart authorities. In addition
to counter surveillance measures against U.S. Customs and Border Patrol
agents, a "law enforcement-sensitive" incident last winter
demonstrated offensive measures employed by criminals.
