Happy Thanksgiving!
I considered what to convey for this Thanksgiving
message which, traditionally, consists of what we are thankful for. We are
thankful for our families, our friends, our blessings, and our communities.
I considered that one third of our lives is spent working. Arguably, as law
enforcement officers I would bet we are at work more than the average
person and have more meaningful relationships with our co-workers and
staff. Thinking about what I am thankful for, I realized I had never
reflected inward towards my department and this would be a great
opportunity to do so.
- I am thankful
for the wonderful people I get to work with every day and how much I
appreciate their dedication and hard work.
- I am thankful
for the supportive community of Central Point and how we as police
officers get to serve our citizens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and
365 days a year.
- I am thankful
that I chose a career as a Law Enforcement Officer and have been able
to meaningfully change peoples' lives.
- I am thankful
that I was fortunate to become a Chief of Police to help shape the
Police Department during my tenure here and take care of the officers
and staff so they could excel at their jobs.
- And lastly, I
am thankful for being a member of the Oregon Association Chiefs of
Police for the past 12 years, the knowledge I have gained from OACP,
and the friendships that I have made in this Association.
I don’t have to speculate that you feel the same
about why you are thankful for your career, departments, and the people you
have met along the way. Have a safe Thanksgiving and remember our Brothers
and Sisters in Blue who are keeping the streets safe this Thanksgiving Day.
