Happy Thanksgiving!

I considered what to convey for this Thanksgiving message which, traditionally, consists of what we are thankful for. We are thankful for our families, our friends, our blessings, and our communities. I considered that one third of our lives is spent working. Arguably, as law enforcement officers I would bet we are at work more than the average person and have more meaningful relationships with our co-workers and staff. Thinking about what I am thankful for, I realized I had never reflected inward towards my department and this would be a great opportunity to do so.

  1. I am thankful for the wonderful people I get to work with every day and how much I appreciate their dedication and hard work.
  2. I am thankful for the supportive community of Central Point and how we as police officers get to serve our citizens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
  3. I am thankful that I chose a career as a Law Enforcement Officer and have been able to meaningfully change peoples' lives.
  4. I am thankful that I was fortunate to become a Chief of Police to help shape the Police Department during my tenure here and take care of the officers and staff so they could excel at their jobs.
  5. And lastly, I am thankful for being a member of the Oregon Association Chiefs of Police for the past 12 years, the knowledge I have gained from OACP, and the friendships that I have made in this Association.

I don’t have to speculate that you feel the same about why you are thankful for your career, departments, and the people you have met along the way. Have a safe Thanksgiving and remember our Brothers and Sisters in Blue who are keeping the streets safe this Thanksgiving Day.
